Financing for adults
As an adult, you are generally obliged to make the investment yourself. Statutory health insurance companies will cover the costs if a surgical repositioning of one or both jaws is necessary and the indication for a contractual benefit exists in accordance with the legal requirements.
As a rule, this also applies to state aid organisations. Depending on the insurance contract, orthodontic treatment for privately insured persons may be covered by health insurance in individual cases.
We therefore recommend that you clarify in advance whether and under what conditions private insurance companies and reimbursement centres will participate.
Tax deductible
Orthodontic treatment for medical reasons is tax-deductible. The treatment can be declared as an exceptional expense in your income tax return. If the treatment exceeds the “reasonable burden”, the costs of orthodontic treatment – both for adults and children – can be claimed against tax. The amount of the reasonable burden is individual and depends on criteria such as marital status, number of children and income.

Importance of retention
Your orthodontic treatment is complete, but you want the success to be permanent? Learn how retention helps to keep your teeth in their new ideal position
What is retention?
The more extensive the tooth movements were, the more the teeth tend to move back into their old position. As it would be a shame to jeopardize the long-awaited treatment goal, a retainer literally holds the fort.
It is firmly attached to the teeth and stabilizes the teeth in their new ideal position. “Retainers” is the name given to the delicate but rigid appliances that ensure lasting success after orthodontic treatment has been completed.
What retainers are available?
Retainers are available from us both as a splint and fixed on the inside of the teeth. Depending on your personal preferences, your oral health and the recommendations of your orthodontist, we will find the right retainer for you.

FAQ:
Orthodontics for adults
-
Why is orthodontics important for adults?
Orthodontics is not only important for teenagers. In adulthood, dental and jaw problems such as misalignments, overbites or gaps between teeth can be treated. This not only improves aesthetics, but also promotes oral health and prevents further complications. Higher-value services for optimal care are therefore not usually included.
